2015-04-29 - Talus Loop Trail

Another Wednesday, another ESAR evening hike. This week brought us to the Talus Loop trail, a less-frequently used offshoot of the Mount Si trail. Talus loop is characterized by open wooded areas, soft trail tread, and a break from the usual Mount Si crowds.

Near the top of the loop you will find an open talus field with views of the South Fork Snoqualmie Valley. Take the first entrance to the loop, as we did, and you will come across the scree field with some climbing left to do. Take the second entrance, and it's all descent back to the trailhead.

Talus Loop hasn't been on our list for several years. It's going to become a regular early season conditioner.

  • The sign for the lower Kamikaze falls connector, from the Talus loop trail. This sign is about 10ft in the air.

  • A photo indicative of the trail - nice open woods, easy to follow trail, and a placid environment. This is very different than the normal Mount Si I've grown to love.

  • Cool log formations along the trail. I couldn't quite tell if this was intentional or the result of a some very fortunate log placements.
